How many people can you take?

Capacity is 8 people including children. Maximum 6 adults/full-grown humans :). Babies are included in the total head count.

I can’t see a tour on the day I’d like. Do you take requests?

What is displaying on my availability calendar is what I have available. Sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

However! I do add tours throughout the weeks based on weather and my availability to get out on the water. If you don’t see something now please check back as you get closer to your desired dates.

You don’t tour on weekends?!! Are you nuts!?

Very, very rarely. My family owns 2 seasonal businesses (Oh hi there www.kindredspirits.ca). Summers are flat-out busy for us. Weekends are sacred family time and recovery time. We also hear that PEI is nice in the summer! Sometimes we like to enjoy it too :). I’d kindly ask that you please don’t ask for weekend tours. It’s my most frequent email topic. My daughter would like to see me occasionally. If it’s not on the calendar it’s not available.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We are a fair-weather tour company. We won’t take you out in anything that is unpleasant. This includes rain of any significance (we’re an open boat). The captain will be monitoring the weather closely and will reach out to you as soon as possible if they feel your tour will need to be canceled or rescheduled. If the captain decides that the tour needs to be rescheduled there are no rebooking fees. If we can’t make another day or time work your tour is refunded 100%.

Where exactly is the boat located?

For most of the operating season we are located in beautiful Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island. It's just a few minutes west of Cavendish. The water we operate in is the New London Bay, connecting rivers, and sometimes, when the conditions are just right, just off-shore outside of the bay.

Our slip is located in the beautiful Stanley Bridge marina.

X marks the spot where you are supposed to park. I'll meet you right off the parking lot.

Turn right as soon as you enter the harbour area. There is a paved road to your right. Follow it up behind the marina buildings and park in the paved parking lot. I’ll meet you at the stairs going up to the marina buildings.

Dogboat is your name but are dogs actually allowed?

Gilbert with his nose to the wind on our old, smaller boat.

Gilbert with his nose to the wind on our old, smaller boat.

Yes & No. Dogs are awesome. We love dogs. Our boat and company name is inspired by our dog (DogBoat/Gilbert/Gilboat....get it?). Well behaved dogs are welcome on all private tours.

What happens when my booking is canceled due to bad weather?

We live in the Maritimes. We sometimes have good blows and rain that come through during the summer months. In these cases we contact you as soon as we make the decision to cancel (by email, phone, or text message) and offer you the ability to reschedule or offer you a full refund. We do our best to make the best decisions we can. We are conservative in what weather we will operate in. We want to provide you with the most pleasurable and safe experience.

Do I tip the captain?
Tipping a captain is customary in the industry however it is not mandatory. It is a tip after all!
If you had a great tour and the captain provided you with excellent service a tip of 10-20% is the norm.

Is there a bathroom onboard?

The tiny marine head.

The tiny marine head.

Well..errrrr…... kind of?! We have a marine head in a fully enclosed part of the boat. It is VERY tiny. We recommend guests use the facilities on land before we get underway. If the EMERGENCY need arises just know it's not a giant walk-in bathroom with heated tile floors :).

We also have a sink with fresh water for cleaning up. We also cary hand sanitizer and all of the other things you'd expect of a bathroom.

How big is the boat?

The boat is a 27 foot deck boat . Learn more about our boat.
